1958 VW Bus Road Trip, Part 4, Travel adventure, Old crank start split safari window hippie van!
We found this bus in New Mexico where it sat for over 30 years in an isolated desert location. We got it running then headed over the rocky mountains in this totally awesome cross county adventure. Come along for a ride with the family in the majic bus as we visit secret vw junkyards and long forgotten roads in the beautiful rocky mountain wilderness. This video is one in a continuing series about this amazing bus find. A must see for vw nuts, dead heads, hippies at heart and all those with restless rambling souls. Special thanks to Jim Campbell and all the kind people we met along the way who helped make this impossible dream into a sublime reality. Peace and love everyone! Thank you! Peace! Please watch all my great sequels to see the awesome adventures road tripping with me in a 58 safari bus ressurected from the summer of love. These vids are cracklin' with positive vibes and energy! I love life. Peace!!! LATEST UPDATE: In keeping with the spirt of continuous energy flow through non greed based attachment to materialism I enjoyed and then sold the '58 bus for a very fair price to support my family. I paid 00 for Glinda as-is in the middle of the NM desert so you can see what I am willing to endure to locate my next vw bus restoration project. What majic bus will be next? If you have or ...

This is fantastic!! I have a 69 now, but bought a ’71 westie in Santa Cruz in ’89 and traveled coast-to-coast in it for 14 years, on and off. Thanks soo much for posting this beautiful video!

Very cool. Handcrank starter is a great design, eliminates a ton of electrical stuff.

Awesome! The “car cemetery” at 6:43 is quite a sight, is that the same place where you found your bus?

Your children seemed to love the trip as much as you two did. Beautiful restoration. You have inspired me to go find one in a field out in Arizona or around that area to restore.

Great video, thanks for sharing. I’m sorry that you had to sell her but I hope you found her a great home. We are preparing our 71 bus for a crosscountry trip this summer. I hope ours is just half as fun as your trip looked. Peace.

I keep coming back to watch this ’58 microbus adventure series over and over again. Hands down, the bumfuzzle channel on YouTube are the best videos on da Web! I got a ’57 single cab I like to hotrod around..and a ’62 camper I drive a bit more delicately. Like JJwoodywood, it brings a tear to my eye, and like vwcamperFlatfour, I love safari windscreens. I may catch pneumonia when winter comes…I’m one to latch ‘em down only when it’s just too cold!
